WELCOME to the HPJRA news!

"Flash" is retiring.  There will be a retirement ceremony during the HPJRA Finals.  If you have competed on "Flash" or have been his chauffeur,  please let me know.

The finals will be July 14-19, 2008 in Clovis, NM.      The Chamber will be sending out your registration packet.  I'm mailing out the finals information booklet Wednesday, and I have put a link to it on the "schedule" page.  The finals will be a five day finals again this year.  BE SURE AND FILL OUT THE REGISTRATION AND MAIL BACK TO THE CLOVIS CHAMBER.  IT DOESN'T MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE OR WHAT YOUR PLANS ARE.  IF YOU ARE GOING TO SET FOOT ON THE FAIRGROUNDS, THE CHAMBER NEEDS TO KNOW BECAUSE THEY PREPARE "GOODIE BAGS" AND OTHER  ACCOMMODATIONS BASED ON THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE ATTENDING.

To enter the finals, fill out a regular entry envelope and then double the amount. ( entry fees and administration fee)  Mail entries to the HPJRA office, not the Clovis Chamber.

VERY IMPORTANT -- Entries for the finals will be due TWO WEEKS in advance!!!   There will be NO late entries or grace period.  The date is June 29th which is Morton #2.  As stated in the rulebook; under General Rules, 5J, page 10, "entries must be paid with a money order, cashier check, cash or credit card (if available)."  NO personal checks from anyone.  The on line entry system will NOT be available. I get the deposit summary from the server at the end of each month which means I won't get June's totals until the end of July.  Therefore, I will not know the exact amount of the deposits because the server charges their fees based on the number, type and information provided by the card user.   HPJRA needs to know exactly how much money is in the bank when the finals start.  I realize that this is inconvenient; and I also, now realize, the importance of this rule.  I'm going to enforce it, so PLEASE don't make me tell you that "you're not entered in the finals."     The good news is-- you have 3 days.....

Be thinking of items for the auction.  This is one of HPJRA's biggest fund raisers.  Handmade and one-of-a-kind items bring the most money, so be thinking of an item, looking for an item or creating an item  Most of all be PREPARED.  HPJRA needs everyone to bring an item for the auction.  We need enough for the silent auction and the live auction.

If you received an all around award from Tucumcari, please send a thank you card to the Kiwanis club.  They worked really hard in the heat for HPJRA to have a rodeo in their town.  There are not many organizations left that want to host a HPJRA rodeo.  Let the ones, that still do, know we appreciate them--thank you.  The address is:  Tucumcari Kiwanis, Doyle Frasier-President, 4241 Quay Rd. 65, Tucumcari, NM 88401.

 Thank you to everyone that turned in tickets and got their jacket sized. 

Be sure and check your points.  If there is a discrepancy, let me know so we can fix it now.  Also, it is VERY IMPORTANT that your membership number is correct.  If your number doesn't start with the number digit that corresponds to your age group, your points are not going to be counted correctly.

I will also have Scholarship Applications with me at the rodeos.  You can pick up one there or I can email you one.  Just let me know what works for you.

The schedule is posted.  Interesting details concerning each rodeo will be posted as soon as the committees get everything finalized. Only the top ten rodeos will count for year-end, so you will have some "wiggle" room.

Missing Items List for HPJRA  (as of 6-24-08)

If your name is listed below, it is in reference to your raffle tickets . You will NOT be able to compete at the finals until you have turned in the required amount of tickets.  So please, turn in your sold and unsold tickets, to the HJRA office as soon as possible to keep things running smoothly.  You are also going to owe an additional 5 tickets.  I will have tickets with me at the rodeos or I can mail them to you.
