2008 HPJRA Finals Celebrating 34 years of junior rodeo ! 2008 HPJRA Finals Celebrating 34 years of junior rodeo!2008 finals time is near! It is definitely time to start gearing up for this year.s HPJRA finals, to be held in Clovis, NM July 14-19. You will be receiving a finals packet from the Clovis Chamber of Commerce. This packet includes information about the week-long schedule, stall reservations, rv hookups, registration, ordering t-shirts, talent show information, etc. The registration form inside that packet MUST be returned by ALL contestants to the ClovisChamber . This gives the Chamber a head count for all the goodies and activities--don.t be left out! This booklet is from the HPJRA office and contains information about the finals. Pay special ATTENTION tothe .missing info. sheet. Be sure and check your points going intothe finals . This auction is a big fund raiser for HPJRA and gives the association a boost to start the new year. To be eligible to compete in an event at the finals, you must have entered that event at 7 rodeos or entered that event at a minimum of 3 rodeos and received at least 1 point in that event. . You must have sold and turned in your raffle tickets. See the .missing raffle tickets. list included with this mailing to make sure your name is not on it. Remember: The girl and boy selling the highest number oftickets will receive a $200 gift certificate to Joe.s Boot Shop in Clovis or Foust Feeds/coolhorse.com in Amarillo. Entering Instructions . . . . Finals entries can be turned it at anytime, but are DUE in JoAnn.s handsby Sunday, June 29th. NO LATE ENTRIES will be accepted!. To enter, use one of the regular entry envelopes and double the amount paid (entry fee and administration fee). On-line entries will not be avail-able for the finals. Callback Instructions . . . . Performances and positions are computer drawn and will be posted on the website the afternoon of Tuesday, July 1st. If you do not have access to the internet, you can call Tuesday, July 1st between 6pm and 10pm (TX time) to find out when you are up. NO CHANGES are allowed, but corrections MUST be made at this time. Finals Information . . . . The 2008 HPJRA finals will consist of 2 go rounds, a short-go and an average that count towards year-end standings. Each performance event will have five contestants and the remainder will be up in slack (if needed, 10+ contestants). All of the barrel racing, pole bending, team roping and steer breakaway will be completed in slack. . The Saturday short-go will consist of the top 5 in the average after goround #1 and go-round #2. The short-go will be worth a maximum of 5 points, and each round and average will be worth a maximum of 10 points. The short-go contestants will automatically be the top 5 places in the average. The 6th-10th average places will be determined at the conclusion of round #2. . Dudley Barker will the HPJRA official photographer. Schedule . . . . In addition to the performances and slack listed on the back page of this booklet, other important events are: 1) Finals rule meeting--Tuesday 8am in the arena (all need to attend) 2) General membership meeting--Wed. 30 mins after slack, grandstands 3) Dinner/auction/talent show--Chamber of Commerce has this info. 4) Short-go--Saturday 9am 5) Awards banquet--Saturday 7pm followed by a dance, location TBA . The Clovis Chamber is arranging some activities for the membership to enjoy. Be sure and check their packet for this information! General Membership Meeting . . . . There will be a general membership meeting in the grandstands, 30 minutes after the Wednesday morning slack is completed. Everyone is invited to attend to express ideas and opinions for next year. Picking up Jackets . . . . Your 2008 HPJRA jackets will be available at the finals (if you turned in your tickets in time). You can pick them up from JoAnn anytime during the week starting Monday. Also for those not attending the finals, your jackets will be sent home with the director living closest to you. Rules to Remember . . . . Dress code rule applies for performances or slack when your nameappears on the program and you are in the arena and during awards banquet. Rule: long sleeve shirt (tucked in), with collars, no sweatshirts and sleeves cannot be rolled up and western style boots required. See page 10 in the rulebook for more details. . Accepting Awards: Everyone needs to be present and in dress code toaccept their awards. For more details see rulebook page 13. Points . . . . If you have a question or any discrepancies about the points coming into the finals, you must ask before the start of the finals. No regular rodeo points will be changed after the finals start.
