Click here to see HPJRA's official publication, Cowboy Times! The HPJRA is a non-profit organization composed of over 200 members all under the age of twenty from Texas, New Mexico & Oklahoma. The purpose for the association is to promote and encourage the involvement in a wholesome family activity as well as to promote good sportsmanship for all involved. The organization began with five men in 1974 and over the last 38 years has grown to be one of the largest junior rodeo associations in the tri-state area. Beginning in April our members will travel to 7 different host towns for a total of 14 rodeos throughout the rodeo season. In July, at the finals, contestants are recognized for the accomplishments they have strived for all year. We award prizes to the champions of each event as well as a Champion All-Around Cowboy and Cowgirl of each of the four age groups: 6 & Under, 7-9, 10-12, 13-15 and 19 & Under. Each contestant is allowed to enter the events offered for their age/gender and offered the opportunity to become a champion. For more
